Living Juicy!

What you put inside your body for beauty is more important than what you put on it. Fruits and vegetables are great for cleaning the system while providing vital vitamins and minerals to help beautify the skin!

Here is a recipe that will help you bounce into spring by cleaning your skin and not clean out your wallet.

Do you have carrots that have seen better days? Is your spinach looking a little limp? Are your apples getting less attractive with each visit to the kitchen? Take unwanted produce and turn it into treasure by living juicy. Don’t discard fruit and veggies–juice them! Juicing fruits and veggies from your fridge will save you cash and give you a clever way to use what you have in your own home.

  • 2 large carrots (tops and tails removed)
  • 1 cup of spinach (or kale)
  • ½ apple (cored)
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 1 cup of broccoli florets

Juice all the ingredients. (Alternate soft ingredients with firmer ones). Carrots are high in A, a vitamin helpful in maintaining skin cells, as well as beta‐carotene and antioxidants that help prevent skin damage. Spinach contains high levels of beta‐carotene, which offers free radical protection and converts into vitamin A in the body. It also has vitamins C& E. Apples are great for smooth skin and are rich in beta‐carotene and vitamin C. Celery is rich magnesium, iron, chlorophyll, folic acid, and vitamins C, B and E.

It may not look great to drink this green juice–but looks are deceiving–it’s tastes amazing!

Cheers to your health!

Enjoy,

Johanna

  1. This looks so good…have to admit, I’m a little bit scared of juicing broccoli, but I will give it a go. I’m a wheeny on juicing older produce…really, it’s okay?

    • Yes, really it is okay! Obviously use your judgement–but it’s truly a great way to use up what you have in your fridge. I also will freeze fruits and veggies as they are looking a little sad and use them later in a smoothie. Have no fear, my dear. Let me know what you think.

  2. Johanna, this drink is wonderful. What a great reminder for the use of our almost-expired produce. Juicing is so wonderful, and it is always great to think about the variety of vegetables that can be used.

  3. I have never juiced broccoli. This can be a first. I have all the other ingredients and do dare to try it with broccoli too. I have been juicing daily since the start of spring with no intention of stopping. I feel great!
